Behind the 19th-century fa\u00e7ade, once home to <em>\u00c0 la Renomm\u00e9e des Herbes Cuites<\/em>, the challenge was to bring the space back to life and craft a decor entirely from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>Within the walls of this speakeasy, an unforgettable line lingers, spoken by Paul Bates (played masterfully by Michael Sheen): <em>Nostalgia is denial, denial of a painful present<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Here, leather banquettes embody the American actors of our story. Waxed wood panelings, tar-smoked, stand as our French heroines.
